The system automatically detects people and obstacles behind the vehicle and also displays a distance indicator for people and objects directly on the monitor screen. This allows the driver to identify hazards more quickly and maneuver more safely. Warnings are provided both visually and audibly. Both functions can be deactivated at any time if necessary. A key feature of the system is the camera’s motorized shutter cover. This reliably protects the camera lens from dirt, rain, and dust. When reverse gear is engaged, the cover opens automatically and closes again as soon as the vehicle stops moving in reverse. In addition, the shutter cover can be opened and closed at any time with the push of a button on the monitor. The camera features state-of-the-art night vision with advanced low-light amplification, producing a significantly brighter image even in very low light conditions. An automatic camera heater also prevents the lens from fogging up or freezing. The lotus coating on the camera lens ensures that water and dirt simply roll right off.
